When Aesthetic House heard an inkling of news about Marc Jacobs’ eponymous beauty line diffusing into our lives, and indeed onto our shelves, it was a good time. Encapsulating every minimalistic, sweetly captivating and perfectly imperfect about his internationally acclaimed brand, we’ve finally had a foray into his beauty-centric world…

The inspiration for Marc Jacobs’ capsule beauty collection stems from four key looks: The Vamp, The Mod, The Starlet and The Little Pretty. From attention-demanding looks to a subtle wash of alluring colour, and the dramatically dark vamp to the vibrantly coloured peacock, every female’s most coveted look is achievable from one of New York’s best loved designers.

The Offerings

Let’s delve in to the lip lacquering proceedings to start. From sheer to full coverage lacquers, a balm and lip gel, the range seems to tick all boxes upon first glance. The Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl Sheers ($28) are already being dropped into the handbag for everyday application: six shades rule the roost here, each prettily named, but our favourite is Heart Shaped, a hydrating shimmer-slicked coral pink number that brightens up any complexion. On the other side of the coverage spectrum lie the Lip Vinyl Fulls ($28), gorgeously glossy numbers that’ll steal your heart. We adore No Regrets, a true red that’ll sweep a flush to your autumnal look.

Now to the more interesting gems in the Lips family. Lovemarc is the range of gellified lipsticks, formulated for a silky, hydrating and long-lasting wear. Priced at $30, they’re also scented with vanilla (our favourite) and we’re already selecting the next shades for our stocks. Sshh… And last but not least is Lip Lock ($24), the balmiest of the bunch. Containing SPF18 and offering a minty fresh moisture lock to your lips, this is our newest favourite go-to in the lip base stakes. Nicely done, Jacobs, nicely done.

To the eyes. The Marc Jacobs’ collection encompasses something for everyone, but have it from us that the Magic Marc’er ($30) has already seen us through a week of heavy duty wearing. The fine liner liquid eyeliner create precise lines for any cat-eyed, doe-eyed look, coupled with a much coveted no flake, no fade formula. We enjoy this just a little.

Finally, our favourite port of call are the nail polishes. Oh the nail polishes. 24 minutely cubed pots of colour, especially designed for your nails. The ‘Enamoured’ Hi-shine Polishes retail at a gasp-inducing $18 but we’ve already selected our need-to-swatch hues for your nail wardrobe. ‘Flourescent Beige’ is already adorning mine, a duo-chrome beige pink hue that does the ladylike trend even better than any manner of flouncy skirt, whilst ‘Evelyn’ has been earmarked for next week’s mani.
