moisture

It’s a tale told a hundred times. Bracing the British elements means that your skin will take a monumental bashing. To stay afloat of the situation and keep pasty patches at bay, here’s your Aesthetic key to moisture lock-in…

Face

Our first port of call for moisture lock-ins is the face. Exposed to the elements, we turn to a nifty, tried-and-tested combination to ensure our skin is kept at its’ best. Beginning with a cleanser that removes impurities and injects moisture, we love the Kiehl’s Washable Cleansing Milk (£18). The unique, simple milk formulation of this cleanser works best generously daubed on the skin with a cotton pad. Leave it to do its’ thing for 5-10 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

Other moisture wonders that we adore include the REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection Cream (£27). Hailed by Sarah as the perfect choice for drier skin, the cream leaves your skin baby soft and prepares it for make-up application.

By night? Our only night cream go-to remains to be the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack (£23.50). A thin layer works wonders overnight to improve the complexion and boost moisture and radiance.

Body

Prep the body for its’ moisture lock-in with a good exfoliator. Exfoliating removes dead skin and ensure the skin is prepped to soak in the goodness of moisturisers. We love the Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub (£7.50)

Body wise, we’re fans of both the oil and the butter. Tips from the team include the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil (£9.99) layered on after a hot shower or drizzled into a bubble bath. Or both if you’re feeling wild (skinned). We’re also recent converts to Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter Body Butter (£10.50). Pop a set of proper pyjamas on and get to your beauty sleep for perfectly plumped pins the next day.

Hair

For a bouncing bonce, we’re currently obsessed with the Timotei Organic Delight Health & Nourishment shampoo and conditioner pairing (£3.49 each). Affordable and lightweight in the hair, it promises a swishy head of locks and leaves your hair nourished and shiny. Follow up with a swig of the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment (£28) through the ends to give extra protection against the elements.

Hands

Finally, with air-con woes, smartphone checks and constant glove use, your hands are in need of TLC throughout the autumn/winter. Our tried-and-tested choices include Soap & Glory’s Hand Food (£2.50), Aesop’s Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm (£19) and the Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve (£14) – all ideal for the deskside beauty bounty.
