With the first of the warm days under our belt, it’s time to turn our attention to springtime bodycare prep. We were all there on Sunday morning; half wishing for a lie in and half wanting to get in the bathroom and scrub the winter away to embrace the double-digit degrees for the first time in 2013. Oils, heavy-duty moisturisers and more are out to play to prepare us for – dare we say it? – bare legs and shirt dresses.

Our foolproof choice is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula. Enriched with Vitamin E, this is one of those beauty bounty staples that will always somehow end up in your stashes. Apply generously after a hot bath to reap the best of its efforts, and it’ll also help to tone the skin and smooth blemishes on the skin. We particularly like to use this on the body, i.e. chest, stomach and back.

Stepping up from our failsafe favourite, the winter saw us reaching for the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil on a near-daily basis. This midweight oil is perfect for mass-injecting moisture to the skin and boasts an inoffensive chocolate orange scent – deelish. Moreover, the texture and weight is ideal for daily use – we recommend slathering on after a shower: pat the skin lightly and apply generously to damp skin and pop on your pyjamas to seal the moisture in.

Again on the cocoa butter menu, Jergens’ Cocoa Butter Body Cream is good for skin that isn’t too moisture depraved. If you’re on the normal skin side of things, this choice may be right up your street. The scent is a little more artificial than its Palmers predecessors and it requires a little more time, effort and patience, but work into the skin in circular motions until it has completely sunk in. Note: the scent lasts forever.

Finally, two of our favourite oils to finish up our springtime menu. The NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi Use Oil is light and gently scented. We tend to add a drop or two to a relaxing bath to infuse a calm and collected evening. Added to the face after a moisturiser, it is particularly nice in a skincare routine. One for the sink-side, we think. The VOYA My Little Hero Face Serum is rich, scentless and ideal for patting in to the facial skin. Following a six-month British winter, it’s time to treat your face to some extra moisture and combat any flaky situations we may have going on.
